Connecting the Dots Issue 2: TTPS Afraid of Criminals?

by fwiwinbox January 17, 2025February 3, 2025

Shout-out to that one TTPS officer at the Carenage Police Station who held nothing back when asked his thoughts on the Prime Minister’s recent Parliamentary statement about the police’s fear of criminals.

Whew, life's been lifing on overdrive for the past few months and a blogger's starting to feel the burn. So, as much as I hate stepping away from the news cycle (especially given everything that's going on right now) I'm going to pause for a bit to recharge so I can come back strong. TTPS bodycam footage? What TTPS bodycam footage? Listen, if the TTPSโ€”an org with a longstanding history of corruptionโ€”wants us to believe a 133% increase in cop killings is NBD, the least they could do is share the bodycam footage they have... and collect the 3,000 cameras collecting dust in storage. All jokes aside, as much as I respect the Uno reverse move from our new PM, it'd be great to see him address the matter directly in a manner that puts the concerns raised to bed. Do so really doh like so, inno. To be a Trinbagonian woman who loves her country is to live with the knowledge that your nation doesn't really love you back. To live and love in this space is to understand that, should the wrong person cross your path and take your life, your countrymen and women will first find ways to blame you for your own murder. To listen to our leadership is to know that nothing will change unless we make them change it. If we could avoid repeating the mistakes of 2010 (or another nation's mistakes of 2024), that'd be ๐˜จ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ต. If so many TTPS applicants are failing to meet the basic criteria for entry (and given what some of their officers are getting up to), the organisation should probably take a closer look at its recruitment pool. Shout-out to that one officer at the Carenage Police Station who held nothing back when asked his thoughts on the Prime Minister's recent Parliamentary statement about the police's fear of criminals.
